The detailed itinerary below has information about altitude of various places you are going to be at, about the trail you will be hiking and many other important factors which will be helpful for you while doing the actual trek.
Mardi Himal Trek Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:
In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to drop you off in our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure, you will be on your own and you can do whatever you want to do for refreshment. But we definitely will be happy to guide you around the city.
Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:
On the second day of arrival, we will be interacting with each other. After early breakfast, every guest needs to arrive at the Company to review their trip so that they can buy and manage the required stuff for their trips. After talking about the trip, we will be taking our guest for a cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. The destination for sightseeing include Swoyambhunath - the oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Square – to see the temple of Living Goddess and other medieval architectural wonders, Pashupatinath – to immerse into Hindu death rites on the bank of a holy river, and Boudhanath – a massive Buddhist shrine considered as the biggest in the world.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara:
As for the second day, we will travel to Pokhara either by bus or by flight. As we reach Pokhara we will have plenty of time to sightsee around the Pokhara. We will be staying overnight at a local guesthouse in Pokhara. If you are taking the bus route then you will be able to see the stunning views of terraced rice field, beautiful landscape, Trisuli and Marsyangdi Rivers and spectacular panoramic view of Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu and most of Annapurna Himalayan Range.
Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Phedi and trek to Pothana:
After finishing up with our breakfast we will be driving to the Phedi. It will take us about half an hour and from here on we will be trekking to our final stop i.e. Pothana. Today’s trek will be steep uphill until we reach Dhampus. Starting from the Dhampus it will be an easy and pleasant trek in fresh air until we reach Pothana. We will be staying in the local teahouse for the overnight.
Day 5: Trek to Forest Camp at Kokar:
Starting today we will be exploring the trail which has only been discovered by few. After finishing up with breakfast we will walk until we reach the place called Pitam Deurali. From here on we will turn off the main trail for Annapurna Sanctuary trek and continue on a new trail through a quite dense forest of rhododendron, maple, oak, and hemlock. We will have to hike for about 4 hours until we reach the final stop for the day. We will be staying at local lodges at the Kokar. Lodges around Kokar doesn’t have any separate dining room so we will be having dinner in the kitchen with the locals.
Day 6: Trek to Low Camp:
We will ascend for the Low Camp on today’s hiking. As we start climbing uphill we will get changes in the vegetation and the environment around the path. We will pass through the dense forest of more rhododendron and the trees are covered with lichen, tree ferns and moss. As we reach the Low Camp we can see the stunning view of Mt. Machhapuchhre visible from the valley. We will be staying at local lodges for overnight which has a dining room with open fire.
Day 7: Trek to High Camp:
As we are going to ascend above 3000 meters it is good for us to drink plenty of water. Today we will hike for about three and a half hour. The final stop for today’s trek will be High Camp which is located at an altitude of 3,700m. The trail proceeds with the Mardi Himal ridge fundamentally on the grass with some detached rhododendron bushes along the route. Passing along the trail you will notice some stunning villages such as Ghandruk village and Chhomrong village. You will be seeing the panoramic view of snow-capped mountains of Hiunchuli, South Annapurna and Mt. Fishtail.
Day 8: Trek from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp:
Early in the morning, we will wake everyone up for the view of mountains on the sunrise. After that, we will be having our breakfast and start another trek to the Mardi Himal Base camp. The trail towards Mardi Himal base camp is not to tough with the grass and couple of steeper sections. We will be seeing various kinds of flora and fauna. You will notice yak grazing on the grassland and various beautiful birds with stunning views of the landscape. As we reach the Mardi Himal base camp we will be able to see the panorama view of the spectacular south face of Annapurna and all of the peaks in the Sanctuary as well as Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Hiunchuli. We will be staying on local Teahouse for the Overnight Stay.
Day 9: Trek from Mardi Himal Base Camp to Siding village:
As we have reached the final destination for our trekking we will start to descend to return bask to Kathmandu. Today we will be descending towards the Siding village. It will be long trek as it will take us about six hours to reach the Siding village from Mardi Himal base camp. Siding village is a traditional Nepali village still untouched by the modern lifestyle. You can experience the local lifestyle of Nepali people in remote areas of Nepal. You can explore the traditional Nepali culture and tradition in this village. We will be staying in Siding village for an overnight while having the traditional Nepali food as dinner.
Day 10: Trek to Lumre and drive to Pokhara:
Today we will be going back to Pokhara. We will be trekking to Lumre. While trekking we will pass through various traditional villages along the way. As we reach the Lumre you will see a jeep awaiting us. We will then check our stuff and drive back to Pokhara. Today we will be staying overnight in Pokhara.
Day 11: Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara:
Today we will return to Kathmandu from the Pokhara. We will be returning on the tourist bus enjoying the fresh air and stunning views along the way. We will have our launch along the way. After returning to the Kathmandu you will get free time to roam around the Thamel city. You can wander around Thamel and can buy the stuff you like.
Day 12: See You Again:
As the last day on this trip, we drive you to the airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
