From the ancient Buddhist stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath, the religious ensembles manifest the ancient values and traditions of Buddhism, to the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath with extensive Hindu precinct are the highlights of this sightseeing. Besides these heritages, the historical Durbar Squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan host ancient and unique tired temples and other monuments, carved architectures with rich decorative carvings also attract the tourists. Today we shall also have a pre-trip meeting where the trekking guide shall instruct you about the trekking to be embarked on and you are expected to use this opportunity to clarify your doubts regarding anything on this trek.

The adventure to the Annapurna region, one of the world’s best trekking destinations, begins today as we shall head on for Pokhara from Kathmandu on a tourist bus. The scenic lake city in western Nepal, Pokhara, is reached through twisting roads of highway with the scenic landscape, waterfalls and fast-flowing rivers and rural settlements.

Looked over by the snowcapped Himalayas from far away and by the lush and rolling hills from nearby, our journey takes us past interesting settlements and is welcomed first by the unique Fishtail Mountain as we reach the vicinity of Pokhara. You shall be transferred to the hotel at the favorite tourist hub of Lake Side.

After some rest wander around the pristine and gorgeous Fewa Lake and experience the Nepalese flavor of modernity in the surrounding areas that embrace tradition and modernity with equal favor. Overnight in Pokhara.

From today on we shall embark on the actual trekking journey to the Annapurna base camp. After breakfast, we take on a private car and head on to the small and beautiful village of Syauli Bazaar. On a road passing through authentic rural settlements and past some religious places, lush hills, beautiful waterfalls, and popular villages like Lumle we reach the confluence of Modi River and Bhurungdi River near the prospering village of Birethanti.

Crossing over the bridge over the Modi River, we drive northward along the bank of Modi River towards the settlement of Syauli Bazaar. Looked over by the green and lush hills, dense forests, and several small villages of Lamakhet, Chimrung, and Syauli Bhatti, we reach Syauli Bazaar.

After refreshments and lunch, we now embark on a trek to natural hot water springs at Jhinu Danda. Starting with a flat trail from Syauli Bazaar, we navigate through small settlements, terraced farmlands, and dense forest, walk along with some stone steps, and through the base of rolling hills to reach the famous settlement of Ghandruk.

Observing the marvelous scenery of glittering and soaring Himalayas such as the Annapurna range, Fishtail Peak, and others from Ghandruk, we trek ahead and along rural trail reach to Komrong and descent to the Kimrong River. Across the river, the uphill walk continues to Taulung and heads on to Jhinu Danda past a steep trail. Get relaxed at the natural hot water spring here. Stay overnight in Jhinu Danda.

The trek upwards towards the final destination continues today as well as we start our trek initially on a steep trail to the trail junction at Taulung and walk uphill to the beautiful Gurung village of Chomrong. From this village spread over 200m of elevation difference with the breathtaking surrounding scenery, we descend to the Chomrong River and ascend to Sinuwa village.

Traversing through the dense forest adorned by ferns and orchids in a trail on the western bank of the Modi River, we now reach the Khuldighar settlement. A village with a helipad for emergency rescue purposes, Khuldighar leads us to the village of Bamboo navigating through the bamboo and rhododendron forest along with long, steep stone steps. On a trail that increases gradually in elevation, we now reach Dovan after crossing stream and trekking past glacial chutes, and increasingly alpine vegetation. Stay overnight in scenic Dovan village.

The walk-on steep trail continues today as well. We start our trek from Dovan, whose name means ‘confluence of two rivers, along with a canyon muddy trail and trek past the sacred Barahi Temple, beautiful waterfall and dense forest of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak and along the Modi River to the Himalayan Hotel. Marching along the stone stairs and past the avalanche-prone area, Hinku cave (a cave used by trekkers and locals for overnight stays many times), the ascent continues to Deurali village trekking past huge boulders.

From Deurali, the last settlement before the base camp located at the foothill of Fishtail Mountain, we enter into the rocky trail of glacial moraine surrounded by sparser vegetation which gradually gives way to the snowy landscape. Along the steep ravine and moraine trail, we reach the base of sacred Fishtail Mountain which is restricted to climbing. The view of Annapurna massifs, Fishtail Mountain itself, Gaganpurna Mountain, and several others from this base camp is marvelous.

Continuing our climb along rocky terrain and through the route surrounded by the moraine ridge of Annapurna South and Hiuchuli Peak, we reach the destination for today, the base camp of Annapurna Mountain. Marvel at the panoramic views of the Himalayas from the base camp and witness the breathtaking sunset over these lofty peaks as you spend the night here. Overnight stay at Annapurna Base Camp.

Today you ought to get up very early in the morning before the sun rises with full strength so as to enjoy the glamorous sunrise over the Himalayas where the sun paints the white Himalayas with its golden rays. Being a lucky witness of this magical natural phenomenon, we shall then retrace back our steps from this natural amphitheater to our destination of Bamboo village.

Starting with the trek on the glacial moraine, we shall join the trail leading us through the valley formed by the Modi River to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Ahead across the glacial river and past the avalanche-prone areas, steep ravine, and scenic surroundings we reach the settlement of Deurali.

Further ahead in the trail we have some suspension bridges, a dense forest of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo which turn more prominent and dense with lowering altitude, interesting settlements, long and steep stone staircase, and changing landscape before we reach the settlement of Bamboo. Reaching a more humid and warm region makes us feel closer to civilization. Stay overnight in Bamboo at the guesthouse.

Twisting and turning trail shall continue to take us to lower altitudes as we now start our trek for today with Chomrong as the destination. We start the trek with the climb to the settlement of Khuldighar and then descend to the settlement of Sinuwa through the dense forest of orchids and fern crossing over some small streams.

After observing the pleasant view of the Annapurna range and the uniquely arranged houses of Ghandruk village, we descend to the Kimrong River past small hamlets crossing after which the ascent for some time leads us to the settlement of Chomrong. A village hosting an ACAP office, safe drinking water station, and kerosene depo, Chomrong is a Gurung village with marvelous scenes across Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre and warm hospitality. Stay overnight in Chomrong.

From Chomrong, the highest permanent settlement in the valley, we take on the trail leading to Kimrong and branch off the trail to Jhinu Danda near Salaphu and have a gradual ascent to Taulung. From here we shall descend to the Kimrong River in a twisting trail and then walk to the Komrong village on a trail surrounded by terraced hills, lush and green surroundings, and rural settlements perched on the hill slope.

Ahead of Komrong, ascend and walk continues along the ridge of the hill named Komrong Danda to reach Tadapani, the destination of today’s trek. Here we join the trail of side trips in the Annapurna region. Stay relaxed in this scenic settlement and prepare for tomorrow’s trek. Overnight stay in Tadapani.

Begin the day with the view of sunrise over the majestic Fishtail Mountain, fresh and mist air, and chirping sounds of birds before getting ready for one of the largest settlements in the region, the Ghorepani village. We shall continue along the trail in a gradual fashion so as to avoid straining ourselves much. Through stone steps, a trail enveloped in vines and creepers, a fantastical network of trees, and the presence of Langoor Monkey watching us from their vaulted boughs of the forest make the trek an interesting one.

Walking through the dense forest with varied vegetation and changing the landscape, the trail opens up to the summer grazing land of Liui Kharka after which the steep trail leads us to another summer grazing land of Thulo Odar Kharka. Walking through the slated quarry we now traverse a trail leading to Ban Thanti.

The final section of the trek to Ghorepani now is made past huge rocks and after ascent over moderately challenging Deurali Pass along the trail that now descends to the ancient trade stoppage point of Ghorepani. Intermittently, we have ups and downs through the mist-covered forest, changing the landscape and serene, quaint trail with some tea shops occasionally. Stay overnight in Ghorepani.

Following several other fellow trekkers, we get out of the guesthouse with bleary eyes and armed with torches to march under the moonlight in pursuit of one of the most memorable sunrises on the trek. After a walk of around an hour, we secure ourselves a spot and get ready with our cameras atop Poon Hill (3210m).

The sky gradually lightens up revealing the silhouettes of mountains and with each passing minute, more detail emerges: mountains, crevasses, crags, trails, homes, and valleys lighten up as well before the orb of the sun comes into the sight. Thrilled by the sight of the sun rising over the range of mountains including Annapurna massifs, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Lamjung Peak, Tukuche Peak, Hiuchuli Peaks, and others, we then trek down for Nayapool.

Through the settlements of Nangethati and Banthati and along the Bhurungdi River, we reach the settlement of Ulleri which provides a view of Annapurna South and Hiuchuli Peaks. Further, ahead we trek down through a long staircase of stones as we navigate through the settlement of Tikhedhungga, the dense forest of rhododendron and other vegetations, other smaller hamlets as well as scenic surrounding before reaching Nayapool. From here we end the trekking and take on a car to drive back to Pokhara. Stay overnight in Pokhara.

After a long adventure in the vicinity of Annapurna and Fishtail Mountains, we shall today enjoy the beautiful scenery and sights of Pokhara, the tourist center and adventure hub of Nepal. From the quaint and beautiful Phewa Lake, which has a reflection of Fishtail Mountain on clear weather days, to the other lakes of Begnas and Rupa and from the shy Devi’s Fall to the natural caves of Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave (it has small Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva), travelers have a lot to visit.

The Mountaineering Museum provides information on the history of mountaineering, local culture, tradition, and communities in the surrounding areas whereas boating on Fewa Lake shall give you immense pleasure. The World Peace Stupa which overlooks the Fewa Lake is another attraction in Pokhara. After exploring the scenery and heritages in Pokhara take a rest in your hotel. Stay overnight in Pokhara.
