Khopra Trek is a wonderfully beautiful but less explored trek in the Annapurna region. This amazing adventure reveals the wonders of the remote Khopra region deep into the Annapurna region of the Himalayas. Taking north from Tadapani takes us to a quiet area completely different from the regular trekking routes in the Annapurna region.

The trek that goes via Ghandruk village and Tadapani enters the Khopra ridge to bring some different angled views of the Himalayan peaks that the normal and regular trekking routes in the region do not bring. The trek onwards from Tadapani becomes highly remote and quiet. There are fewer trekkers in the region thus nature is in pristine form. The adventure brings a real remote exploration of the area.

NOTE:It is recommended that you should arrive in Kathmandu a day earlier before you start your trek (if you do not have a day tour of Kathmandu scheduled). And If you have scheduled a Kathmandu day tour you should arrive two days prior to the actual day of trekking.

If you are able to arrive a day earlier, it will be best for you as you will get some time to rest, know about the trekking you are doing, get info about the trekking routes, and get time to buy trekking equipment if necessary. Adding some extra days beside actual trekking days will help you enjoy your trip to Nepal to the fullest without having to worry about any preparations, flight delays, and missing international flights.

In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to drop you off at our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure, you will be on your own and you can do whatever you want to do for refreshment. But we definitely will be happy to guide you around the city.

On the second day of arrival, we will be interacting with each other. After early breakfast, every guest needs to arrive at Company to review about their trip so that they can buy and manage the required stuff for their trips. After talking about the trip we will be taking our guests for a cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley.

The destination for sightseeing includes Swoyambhunath - the oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Square – to see the temple of Living Goddess and other medieval architectural wonders, Pashupatinath – to immerse into Hindu death rites on the bank of a holy river, and Boudhanath – a massive Buddhist shrine considered as the biggest in the world.

We are heading to Pokhara today on an overland journey where the magnificent view of Mt. Macchapuchare (Mt. Fishtail) welcomes us. The road journey of about 6 hours starts after breakfast and heads towards the west of Kathmandu valley past Swoyambhunath aka monkey temple.

As soon as we get outside Kathmandu valley from the western ridge, we can immediately experience the charm of rural Nepal. The drive has some beautiful views of Himalayan peaks and countryside hills. The highway runs through small towns, riverbanks,s and winding curl exposing rural Nepalese wonders to us.

We reach Pokhara just to feel the welcome of this beautiful lake city. We are going to stay overnight at Lakeside. We will have free time to wander around the lakeside on our own once we check in to the hotel.

Today we will be driving to Ulleri. Ulleri is 53 minutes ride from Pokhara and is 22.3 km away. The ride takes us through the rural village of Pokhara. You can explore the diverse culture of Gurung ethnicity and diverse landscape.

The walk today to Ghandruk is a gentle uphill trek. It goes through the rhododendron forest and gives a lovely feeling of walking in beautiful nature. About 5 hours of gentle traversing the trail towards Tadapani gets a beautiful reward in the form of a close-up view of Annapurna South, Fishtail, and Himchuli peaks in the Annapurna range. Tadapani is a lovely settlement nestled in the foothills just across those mighty Himalayan peaks. It has a small marketplace and some beautiful guest houses for travelers to stay in. The nature walk and the most deserved rest get us ready for the adventure that awaits ahead of us.

We enter into a much quieter region on our trek from today onwards. We trek to Bayali Kharka entering the elevation above 3000 meters above sea level. The trail winds up and down the hill through rhododendron forest and moves further ahead towards Bayali Kharka. Spectacular views of the mountain peaks in the Annapurna range from right above the tree line make our day and help us divert our minds away from the tiring effort of trekking at a high altitude.

The walk today goes to Chhistibung on a gentle trail involving walking up and down the trail. Chhistibung is a small and temporary settlement with a few places to stay. The trail today is mostly a gentle descent with the final ascent to upper Chhistibung. The descent to lower Chhistibung goes on a trail through forest and the ascend starts to upper Chhistibung. The walk is for about 4 hours at a gentle pace on a beautiful trail.

The destination of today's trekking is Khopra ridge. The path to Khopra ridge consists of outstanding scenery of mountains that will blow off your mind. Walking towards the Khopra ridge is a slow-paced and steady walk only for about 4 hours. We are taking it as an easy-going day to adapt to the increasing altitude. The walk brings a river valley along with stunning mountain views. We enjoy the serenity of the region all throughout the trek as a less trekked area unlike other Annapurna trails, Khopra trek offers quiet time in the massive mountains.

We reach the highest elevation on the trek today when we hike to Khayar -Lake at an elevation of 4,600 meters above sea level. A long day of the trek in the high altitude challenges us pretty much. It’s a tough day trek going up to the lake that is considered a sacred lake by the Hindus living in the region. About 8 hours of effort at the high altitude is truly challenging for anyone but it brings some wonderful mountain views and incredible landscape to our sight. We trek back to Khopra after some beautiful exploration trip.

It’s time to trek the trail back down towards the lower elevation towards Swanta. The trail descends towards the destination via Chhistibung. Spectacular views of mountains and valleys keep our pace engaged as we hike downwards. We pass through beautiful villages, a wooded area,s and splendid views along the way.

We start the trek in the dawn, descending a river to take an uphill route to Ghorepani. The trail to Ghorepani is a nice and steady uphill walk after crossing the river. When we reach Ghorepani, we stop for our lunch and enjoy the scenery. Incredible Himalayan views make our lunch break a wonderfully memorable one. After lunch, we start descending through the lush green rhododendron forest towards Ulleri. Ulleri is a beautiful village with several guest houses to stay overnight.

The early morning trek starts descending through the well-paved steps down towards Tikhedhunga. The steep step walk early morning can feel on our knees but we keep our pace steady so that we enjoy those steps to the utmost. Once we reach Tikhedhunga the trail descends further to Hile then meets a dirt road that gradually leads us to Nayapul. When we reach Nayapul, we get on our vehicle and drive to Pokhara. About 1.5 hours of drive on the beautifully scenic winding road takes us to Pokhara. We feel refreshed at the hotel and enjoy leisurely time and celebrate the end of the beautiful Khopra Trek.

We take a drive back to Kathmandu via the same highway we took earlier to go there. Once in Kathmandu, we spend leisurely time back in the chaos of the city after so many days of serene mountain air and incredible adventure.

On the last day of this trip, we drive you to the airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.

We definitely hope that you enjoyed the Khopra Trek and hope to see you for another adventure soon.
