The powerful 7.9 - magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25 and on May 12, 2015, left a trail of devastation, 4,00,000 houses has been totally damaged, 5,00,000 houses cracked,8,000 schools totally damaged and almost died 9000 people killed, 45,000 peoples are Injured & 5 million Nepali people have been affected. It is the deadliest natural disaster in Nepal after 80 years. According to a report released by the United Nation’s humanitarian agency OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) up to 95 per cent of the houses in Dhading, Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk districts have been destroyed.
The scale of destruction is so grand that Nepal & Nepali people alone can’t deal with it and therefore we are looking help from foreigners like you. We have designed a volunteerism itinerary in such a way that you at first will be spending your time in rebuilding activities in the remote villages of Dhading, which is totally down after the earthquake. After the earthquake, Our Himalayan Scenery Trek Company and all our team are supporting to the victims People around by Rebuilding Schools and shelter for the people. And then you trek in Annapurna region, where there is no effect of the earthquake and trekking is possible and safe.
For volunteering, we have chosen Dhading District for deploying the foreign volunteers like you because firstly, most of the epicenter of the earthquake was in this region. Secondly, it is the remote part of Nepal and close to Tibet and thirdly, it will take couple of years to rich help and support from the Government in this region. The spot is away from the capital city of Kathmandu, so earthquake disaster relief hasn’t reached there as much as it should be. The people of Northern part of Dhading are helpless, suffering and need your help. And also, most of our trekking guides and porters from local company Himalayan Scenery is from Dhading region. They have lost their houses and some of our staff has lost their family members. We went to Shree Chakerswori Secondary School, Achhane – 6, Tripureswor, Dhading and saw the horrible condition of the school and we felt that it’s now time for us to do some help for the school children. As Nepal being a poor land locked country, the accessibility of Government cannot be seen in the remote area. Around 350 students were studying in Shree Chakerswori Secondary School before the earthquake but now only heap of mud and bricks can be seen. Our focus is on the school of five village 1) Chakreshwori Lower secondary school - Achhane , 2) Achhane Higher Secondary School - Khahare Bazaar, 3) Jaljale Secondary School Lapang , 4) Sukaura School and 5) Rebuild Poor and lower classes People House. We still have ray of hope with us, we believe with your help we can rebuild Nepal again and make all school children closer to the path of education.
