Ganjala Pass Trek Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:
In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to drop you off in our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure, you will be on your own and you can do whatever you want to do for refreshment. But we definitely will be happy to guide you around the city.
Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:
On the second day of arrival we will be interacting with each other. After early breakfast every guest need to arrive at Company to review about their trip so that they can buy and manage the required stuff for their trips. After talking about the trip we will be taking our guest for cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. The destination for sightseeing include Swoyambhunath - the oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Square – to see the temple of Living Goddess and other medieval architectural wonders, Pashupatinath – to immerse into Hindu death rites on the bank of a holy river, and Boudhanath – a massive Buddhist shrine considered as the biggest in the world.
Day 3: Drive form Kathmandu to Dhunchhe:
Today we will be driving towards the Dhunchhe which is the starting point of Ganjala pass. The drive will be 8 hours until we reach Dhunchhe. While driving to Dhunchhe you will notice variety of landscape, scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas. You will be staying overnight at guest house in Dhunchhe.
Day 4: Trek from Dhunchhe to Sybru Village:
After finishing up with our breakfast we will start your trek. It will take about five and half hours to reach to final stop. While trekking we will pass through Sybru Gaon which is elevated at 2120m. Hiking through forests and terraced hill slopes you will then reach Sybru. In Sybru, you descend to the ridgeline that separates the Langtang Khola from the Trisuli River. Sybru is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline. The sunset is magnificent. From here you can enjoy spectacular view of Langtang Lirung (7245m.) and Tibetan Himal ranges.
Day 5: Trek from Sybru village to Lama Hotel:
Today we will be descending along the ridge on Sybru main street and then drop to the Ghopche Khola (2050 m.). Today’s Trek ascends gently to Rimche 2400m and through Bamboo village elevated at1960m. And final stop for the day is Lama Hotel. While passing through the dense forests you will notice animals like red pandas, wild monkeys and bear. You will be staying overnight at Lama Hotel.
Day 6: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village:
As you hike past through dense forest climbing up hill there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. Once you reach the Gohar Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. While hiking here, you can catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. You will continue to climb gently until you see a widened valley of Langtang. And this widened valley and Langtang village will be your final stop. You will be staying overnight in guest house at Langtang Village.
Day 7: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin:
The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. It is a dramatic setting, with snow covered peaks surrounding us in all directions. We can enjoy the panoramic view of Dorje Lakpa (6990m.), Langtang Ri (6370m.) and Langtang Lirung (7245m.).
Day 8: Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa and excursion around with side trip:
We will take you to visit the monastery and the cheese factory. As for today’s excursion you will walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung. Meanwhile, you will ascend to Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. You will be able to explore the Himalayas, tumbling glaciers and the lifestyle of Nepalese people in high altitude. You will be staying at the same hotel for the overnight.
Day 9: Climb Mt. Tsero Ri via Kyanjing and Trek Back to Kyangjun Gompa:
Get up early in the morning prepared for our summit of Mt. Tserko RI. Hike through a couple of yak pastures before getting to the foot of the Tserko RI. Hike up steeply to get to the top of the Tserko RI. Enjoy a great sunrise view of the Langtang RI and such other peaks from the top. You might experience the thin air at this point because of the high altitude. After enjoying the heavenly sunrise and exploration of the region, we will return to Kyanjing-Gompa surrounded by the Himalayas all around. After returning you can relax or take a walk around enjoying the views of, glacier, icefalls, birds and yaks.
Day 10: Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Ngegang:
While hiking and ascending towards Ngegang you cannot see any villages. The trail goes on ascending and area is covered with little natural vegetation. Since there are not any lodges available you need to camp for the overnight stay.
Day 11: Trek from Ngegang to Keldang via Ganja La Pass:
Today we will hike to the final destination for the trek. Ganjala pass is elevated at 5100m. The trek will be comparatively strenuous as you need to cross the Ganjala pass. Once you reach the Ganjala pass, you can find the rocks covered with snowy ice most times throughout the year. But before crossing Ganjala pass you need to reach Keldang which will the place for your overnight stay. Once you reach Ganjala pass you will return back to Keldang being excited on completing your trek.
Day 12: Trek from Keldang to Dukpu:
As you have already reached the final stop for the day now it’s time for returning back to Kathmandu and first stop is Dukpu. It takes about 5 and half hours. The camping site will be organized inside the forest. This day will be long day walking along ridge, grassland, the trek will be quiet, with the amazing views of Mountains.
Day 13: Trek from Dukpu to Tarke Gyang:
Today’s trail will descend about 200mtrs. But we will be climbing the 4100m Faguna pass. Views from Pass are spectacular to the Annapurna Region and Mt. Everest region too. While descending we will pass through Rhododendron forest past tiny herder's settlement to Tarke Gyang. You can visit one of the oldest Buddhist monastery and Sherpa villages. We will be staying overnight at Tarke Gyang.
Day 14: Trek from Tarke Gyang to Shermathang:
Today’s trail mostly includes the plains so you don’t have to struggle much for going towards Shermathang. If you are trekking Helambu in time of Spring then you can encounter the most stunning and beautiful view of Rhododendron forest with lots of Rhododendron blooming. Other than that, you will encounter the Mani walls, Chortens everywhere and the view of mountains with these Chortens and Mani wall is super exciting. Today you will also be able to explore the Sherpa village their way of life and their unique culture.
Day 15: Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar and Drive to Kathmandu:
The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows ad cultivated fields. You come across several old villages with their own particular tradition. quite pleasant with mountain views and interaction with local and people and it takes about six hours to drive to Kathmandu.
Day 16: See You Again:
As the last day on this trip, we drive you to airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination. We definitely hope that you enjoyed the Ganjala Pass Trekking and hope to see you for another adventure soon.
