Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek itinerary explains the detail about the trek itself. You will be notified about the destination you will be staying, altitude you will be each day and many other kinds of stuff including accommodations and meals. You will be hiking through the Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek Trail while exploring various stop.
Dhauligiri Base Camp Trek Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:
In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to drop you off in our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure, you will be on your own and you can do whatever you want to do for refreshment. But we will be happy to guide you around the city.
Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:
On the second day of arrival we will be interacting with each other. After early breakfast every guest need to arrive at Company to review about their trip so that they can buy and manage the required stuff for their trips. After talking about the trip, we will be taking our guest for cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. The destination for sightseeing include Swoyambhunath - the oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Square – to see the temple of Living Goddess and other medieval architectural wonders, Pashupatinath – to immerse into Hindu death rites on the bank of a holy river, and Boudhanath – a massive Buddhist shrine considered as the biggest in the world.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni:
We will be heading towards Beni which is also the starting point for our trek. We need to drive on Prithivi Highway from Kathmandu. The drive will last for about 8 hours. The drive will be long but the views along the highway is beautiful and will pass through the famous lake city of Pokhara. If you are flying to Pokhara you can take a short tour around lake city of Pokhara. After reaching Beni we will check in Hotel rooms. We will be staying overnight at Beni.
[Note: If you don’t want to ride for long you can fly to Pokhara form Kathmandu which will take about 30 minutes and the Beni will be three hours’ drive from Pokhara.
Day 4: Trek from Beni to Babiyachaur:
After finishing up with breakfast, we will hike alongside Myagdi Khola. Our hike will let us explore various village passing through our path. After walking for some time, we will reach near a village of Simalchaur. Here we will be crossing two bridges. As we hike along our trail we will notice beautiful terrace landscape, lively village people passing by. Our final stop for today is Babiyachaur. Before reaching Babiyachaur we need to cross suspension bridges and most of the hiking will be along the Myagdi Khola. We will be camping at Babiyachaur for the overnight stay.
Day 5: Trek from Babiyachaur to Dharapani:
Enjoying with hot breakfast cooked on fire on camping ground we will start our trekking. The final stop will be Dharapani. We will hike towards Phedi crossing the Myagdi Khola. The path we hike will be plain and easy. We will pass through village of Shahashradhara crossing Duk Khola we will hike in green grassy fields until we reach Ratorunga. We will then reach village of Dharapani after short Hike. We will camp for the overnight stay.
Day 6: Trek from Dharapani to Muri:
Today we will hike to a place called Muri. Six hours of ascending and descending hiking will take us to Muri. As we finish up with our breakfast at campsite we will pack our stuffs and will start descending passing through various village. After hiking downhill for some time, we will reach a suspension bridge. Crossing the suspension bridge the trail will ascend uphill. Walking along this uphill trail we will reach Muri. It’s a small village which is mostly inhabitant by Magar people. Here as well we will build camp for our overnight stay.
Day 7: Trek from Muri to Baghara:
Starting from Muri it will take us about 6 hours to reach the Baghara. Today we will be crossing a river called Dhora Khola. Alongside Dhora Khola you can notice terrace farmlands. From here we will climb the mountain right to us until we reach Ghorban Dhara. Ghorban Dhara provides the perfect view of Ghustung south which is elevated at 6465m. we will then start following the path alongside Myagdi Khola until we reach Naura. we will climb right up the mountainside to Ghorban Dhara. From Ghorban Dhara, you will get to see Ghustung South (6465m). Before reaching the Naura we follow the river bank path of Myagdi Khola. From Naura, we ascend begins on the mountainside. Sometime of uphill climbing, and a path that traverses the steep grass covered hills. And trailing further away in a well-constructed zigzag stone steep paths while descending through a forested area, emerging to a ridge snout Baghara becomes visible elevate at 2050m. we will camp for the overnight stay.
Day 8: Trek from Baghara to Dobang:
Starting the real challenges for the trek shows up. The path will be difficult with more ascending and descending to do. The hike will last five hours long before we reach Dobang. We will be able to see some mountains panoramas while ascending towards our destination. After reaching Dobang we will build our camp and stay here for the overnight.
Day 9: Trek from Dobang to Sallaghari:
Finishing up with our breakfast we will continue our trek towards Sallaghari. Sallaghari literally means dense Pine forest. It is also the summer grazing area. We will trek gently on ascending path passing through dense forests of rhododendron, pine and bamboo. Once you see a crest to climb, gentle trek is over you should climb up hill. from the crest top you can see the wall of Dhaulagiri-I. from here the trail descends towards Myagdi Khola and walking alongside of this river will take us to Sallaghari. We will be camping for the overnight.
Day 10: Trek from Sallaghari to Italian Base Camp:
After waking up in fresh air, surrounded by pine forest and the sound of swift flowing river. We will have our breakfast at campsite. We will then pack our camping stuff and hike towards our destination. The trek will last for four hours. And as we reach Italian Base Camp we will first encounter the glacier. The view of Dhaulagiri range, Manapathi Peak, and Dhaulagiri-II is truly inspiring and breathtaking. The camping site is beneath west face of Dhaulagiri-I where we will be camping for the overnight.
Day 11: Acclimatization and rest day:
The trek is considered the difficult so rest is must if you want to complete your trek. We will be taking break from our hiking and will rest for today. We will explore around the base camp so that we can adjust to the air at high altitude. We will visit tea houses which has some of trekkers item you can pick up some item. After exploring the tea houses and enjoying the breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri range and Manapathi peak we will return to our camping site for the overnight.
Day 12: Trek from Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp:
Our body today will fell much lighter which will be helpful for today’s trekking. We will continue our trek towards Glacier Camp. The trail is much rougher with rocks and traversing steep slope and slipper glaciers. After some time, we will cross moraine of glacier flowing down from the Dhaulagiri. We also need ropes to do some climbing on today’s trekking. After 5 hours of trekking we will reach our final stop Glacier Camp. Today as well we camp for the overnight.
Day 13: Trek from Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp:
Today’s as well will be one rough day for trekking. You should trek through slippery glaciers path. The climb uphill will be much tougher and challenging. Climbing uphill for six hours is one hell of task. But once you are at Dhaulagiri Base Camp you will forget the suffering you have gone through. You will be stunned as you see Dhaulagiri-I standing before you. Other than Dhaulagiri you will see various peaks like Dhaulagiri II, (7751m), III (7715m) and IV (7618m). we will camp for overnight. Opposite to our camping site lies spectacular ice fall flowing Between Tukuche and Dhaulagiri.
Day 14: Acclimatization and rest day:
Our legs are hurting from the yesterday’s uphill climb so this rest day will help us to recover. We will explore around Dhaulagiri Base Camp. You will also adjust to altitude if you are to explore around the Camp. If you climb bit above Camp you will get the spectacular view of Dhaulagiri Range. After exploring around for while we will return to base camp for the rest. We will be camping for the overnight stay.
Day 15: Trek from Dhaulagiri Base Camp to French Col – Hidden valley:
Finishing up our hot breakfast on cold morning we will start our trekking towards the French col from where the view of hidden valley will stun you. But before getting that inspired felling, you should get off the glacier for which you should do some rope climbing. After doing some hard work on rope climbing you will get to trek on less strenuous terrain. After climbing for some time to French Col, the hidden valley which is also the reminiscent of Tibet and Ladakh. Temperature here is at least at -20 degrees Celsius. We will then trek towards hidden valley where we will camp for the overnight.
Day 16: Trek from Hidden valley crossing Dhampus pass to Yak Kharka:
To reach Yak Kharka we firstly need to cross the Dhampus Pass and the trek will last for about seven hours. Trek to Dhampus is tough as you should climb steep uphill. Not only uphill is challenging but downhill is as tough as uphill. While descending we will pass through avalanche-prone slopes and rocky slopes. After descending through challenging trail, we will reach an open space where yak grazes. This open grazing space is known as Yak Kharka. We will camp at Yak Kharka for the overnight stay.
Day 17: Trek from Yak Kharka to Jomsom:
Today’s trek is going to be the easiest after all those days of hard and tough trekking. Our final stop for the day is Jomsom. After having hot breakfast at camp, we will hike downhill towards kali Gandaki valley from where we can reach the settlement of Allubari (3400 meter). again, descending from Allubari we will eventually reach the village of Marpha which is elevated at (2667m). here at Marpha village you can do some shopping as the village is beautiful and there are number of crafts shops around village. From Marpha village we will gain some elevation to reach our final stop for the day Jomsom. Here you can enjoy the completion of you trek. We will do some camp fire with local apple Marpha(alcohol) and beers. We will camp for the overnight.
Day 18: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara (lake city):
We will fly back to Pokhara to give our body rest. You will get to see the Himalayan Panoramas while flying back to Pokhara. Once we arrive at Pokhara we will check our hotel leave our stuffs. We will get fresh and ready to explore around the lake city. You can enjoy the view of Mt. Machhapuchhre and Phewa Lake. Today we will be staying at hotel for the overnight.
Day 19: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu:
Finishing up with our morning breakfast, we will drive back to Kathmandu by Tourist Bus. We will enjoy the scenery on the way, after that we check Hotel in Kathmandu to have a rest and Enjoy a farewell dinner in Evening, we will be staying overnight at 3-star hotel In Kathmandu.
Day 20: Final Departure:
On the las day of our trip, representative of Himalayan Scenery Treks and Expedition will drive you to the airport according to you flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
