Bhairav Kunda Trek Detailed Itienerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:
As per your flight plan, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to stretch out a warm welcome to you in our wonderful nation for the lovely outing. As you fly towards the International Terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport on a clear sunny day, you can see the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks spread in distance. Once you land, a representative from Himalayan Scenery Treks will escort you to your hotel. The day is complete leisure. You can either choose rest at your hotel room and remove jet lag or take a short walk around in the ancient valley of Kathmandu.
Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:
On the second day of your arrival, we will be taking you for the sightseeing tour to some of Nepal’s most historic site after morning breakfast. Talking about the cultural richness, Kathmandu is the cultural heart of Nepal. This city has an interesting combination of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the valley. We will be taking you to the historical and cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. We will take a tour around Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple- Swoyambhunath Stupa – oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Pashupatinath Temple – biggest Hindu Shrine and Bouddhanath- a massive Buddhist Shrine. All these historical monuments are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site. You will be accompanied by the professional licensed guide during your city tour around the beautiful city of Temples.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire:
After having breakfast, we will head towards Jalbire. It is about 5 hours charming drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire. This place is famous for its beautiful views of mountains. Jalbire is occupied with Newari people. It is also home of Hindu temple of god Vishnu which lies on the banks to the Balephi river. You will spend your first night with experiencing Newari culture in your first night camp.
Day 4: Trek from Jalbire to Chanaute:
Early morning after having breakfast our trek will start. It takes around 4 hours easy walking along a path to Chanaute. We will pass through some Tamang village with a great view of a waterfall. Chanute is a small village with brahmin and Chettri settlement.
Day 5: Trek from Chanaute to Khani Gaun:
The hike today is longer and steeper. Once we have breakfast, we will commence our journey to the Khani Gaun. From Chanaute about 5 to 6 hours steep ascend on small walking trails reaches Khani Gaun. This hike is going to be harder so we will hike slowly, and stop for resting and enjoying the views along the way. Before we arrive at Khani Guan for the overnight stay, we will pass through ethnic villages, stunningly terraced fields, streams, and a local school. Khani Gaun is the beautiful settlement which is inhabited by the Newar community. It is believed that this village was formed after Newar people fled from Bhaktapur in the middle of the 18th century after the battle between Gorkha and Bhaktapur. From the village, you can enjoy some magnificent views of the mountain.
Day 6: Trek from Khani Gaun to Forest Camp:
Hiking out of the Khani Gaun, we will take a steep uphill climb through the beautiful Rhododendron forest and occasional grazing pasture. During our hike, we will get to see some nomad houses for cattle. If we are lucky enough, we also encounter some wild animal (especially bears and leopards) and birds. We will camp in the forest for the overnight stay.
Day 7: Trek from Forest Camp to Pati:
Another tough and challenging day. We will commence our trek today with a steep ascent through pine and rhododendron forest. As the trek today is the steep uphill climbing, we take it easy on the way up, enjoying the surrounding. After 4 hours of challenging climb, we eventually reach Pathi. As we arrive early at this small but wonderful settlement, we will have sufficient time to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. In Pati, you also get to see some of the houses made by pilgrims along with a magnificent mountain view. We set up the camp at Pati for the overnight stay.
Day 8: Rest Day for acclimatization:
Today is the day off to rest day. As we are already in the altitude of 3765 meters, resting for acclimatization helps our body to adjust with the high altitude. Resting to acclimatize also reduces the chance of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). In the day time, we will go to explore around the Pati and get ready for our next ascent tomorrow.
Day 9: Trek from Pati to Bhairav Kunda:
After having breakfast at the camp, we begin our morning walk with an uphill climb for an hour. After an hour of a tiring uphill climb, we continue our hike on a distinct level path for about two and a half hours to Bhairav Kunda.
Bhairav Kunda is a holy pilgrimage site of both Hindu and Buddhist along with Shamans. It is believed that, taking a bath in the lake during the full moon of June/August, will wash away the sins from their life. At the side of Kunda (Lake), there is a small temple of Bhairav (the destructive form of Lord Shiva). Yearly, many pilgrims visit this sacred lake to take holy bath at Lake and pay homage to Lord Shiva.
Day 10: Trek from Bhairav Kunda to viewpoint and to Sherpa Village:
We will be starting our trek early to Bhairav Kunda viewpoint to enjoy the heavenly sunrise. Reaching the top ridge of the hill, you will be blessed with some magnificent views of the Langtang, Jugal Himal Range, Rowling Range, and the Tibet Range. After enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunrise, we will return to the camp for breakfast. Continuing our walk, we hike steeply down for about 6 Hours through the forest to arrive at Sherpa village. We set up a camp at this village for the overnight stay.
Day 11: Trek from Sherpa gaon to Larche:
Today is the last day of our trekking. We will start our trek today with a steep downhill walk for about three and a half hours to arrive at the bank of Bhote Koshi River. Walking back of the Bhote Koshi river, we arrive at Larche. After Larche, we can take further 30 minutes’ walk to hot spring for a bath and chill out after the long exhausting hike.
Day 12: Drive from Larche to Kathmandu:
After so many days of trekking through fascinating forest and villages, we finally head back to the comforts of Kathmandu. We take a bus at 7 in the morning and drive back on Araniko Highway with a scenic countryside view. After reaching Kathmandu, we transfer you to the hotel for rest and refreshment.
Day 13: Transfer to international airport for your final connecting flight home:
On the last day of our trip, representative of Himalayan Scenery Treks will drive you to the airport according to your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
