An Expedition Journey To Everest Base Camp Itinerary

  • Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:

    In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to transfer you to our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure on your own to relax the jetlag. But we definitely help you with the information to go around in case you’d like to do so.

  • Day 2: Fly to Lukla and Hike to Phakding:

    We get ready early in the morning for our flight to Lukla (2,860 meters). We are going to set our foot on the marvelous Everest region. A short and beautiful flight lands us at Lukla airstrip where incredible mountain views welcome us to the charming mountain region. As soon as we come out of the airport, we get ready to begin the trekking journey. We are trekking to Phakding (2,610 meters) today on a gentle and easy trail that takes us past chhortens, mani walls, prayer flags, etc. to let us know that the region has a big influence of Buddhism. We reach Phakding on the bank of Dudh Koshi River to stay overnight.

  • Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazar:

    We are going to enter Sagarmatha national park on our trek to Namche Bazar today. As we hit the trail from Phakding, we follow the river and cross in many different places over suspension bridges. Once we check at the national park checkpoint at Monjo, we continue walking towards the destination. Although the trail today gives us the pretty tough challenge of traversing uphill trail, we go on a gentle pace to ease the challenge. Bustling Namche Bazaar welcomes us for an overnight stay.

  • Day 4: Explore Namche Bazar | Hike to Everest View Hotel:

    Namche Bazar is an ideal point to take an additional overnight stay to acclimatize. Thus, we are going to explore around Namche Bazar and return back here to stay overnight. We enjoy breakfast and set out for the day. We hike up to the Everest View Point. This incredible hike brings to a point that brings the epic Everest to our view for the very first time on the trip. We enjoy captivating views of the mountains and spend time exploring the surroundings before descending back to Namche Bazar. We wander around this beautiful Sherpa village for the rest of the day and adjust with the climate.

  • Day 5: Trek to Tengboche:

    On the third day of the trek to the Everest Base Camp, our destination is Tengboche. The first section of the trek goes uphill and becomes gentler before it descends to a mountain stream. After crossing the stream, it goes steep uphill towards Tengboche. Tengboche is a small and beautiful settlement that has great views of mountain peaks. The Buddhist monastery there, famously known as Tengboche Monastery, is a rich example of Buddhist cultural traditions prevalent in the region. We explore the monastery and surrounding and spend overnight here.

  • Day 6: Hike to Dingboche:

    We wake up for a lovely morning and relish our breakfast with the view of mountains given that it’s a fine morning. We are trekking to Dingboche today so we embark on the adventure walk of the day. The trail goes amidst the high towering mountains and passes Pangboche village. We cross a mountain river along the trail to start the uphill challenge. The trail goes pretty much uphill after Pangboche up to Dingboche. Dingboche is a beautiful settlement with tea houses and view of mountain peaks.

  • Day 7: Explore Dingboche:

    We need another acclimatization day here before we head any further higher. We will go for a hiking exploration to a higher elevation today. We have different hiking options here. We can hike up to Nangkartsang Peak or towards Chhukung Ri. Both provide spectacular views from the top along with a good challenge of trekking in high altitude. After the hike, we return back to Dingboche to spend overnight.

  • Day 8: Hike to Lobuche:

    Our overnight place today in Lobuche and we trek there through rugged mountain trail filled with glacial moraine, huge boulders, and bare landscape. Captivating views of mountains accompany us along the trail. Our pace gets slower as we trek higher and we can clearly feel short of oxygen level in the air. So, we try to walk on a gentle pace to adjust with the high-altitude climate. We trek pass Thukla where we see a lot of memorial chhortens and eventually reach Lobuche to stay overnight.

  • Day 9: Reach Everest Base Camp:

    We are going to trek all the way to Everest base camp today. We wake up early in the morning; take our breakfast and quickly get ready for the adventure of the day. With the excitement of reaching the Everest base camp, we set out on the trek of the day. We reach Gorakshep (5,142 meters) and stop for lunch. Gorakshep is also our overnight place for the day so we check into our lodge. Later after lunch, we get ready to trek to the Everest base camp. A gradual ascension through the boulder-strewn path takes us to the epic base camp of the highest mountain in the world.

    We enjoy our moments there for a while; take pictures and exploit the most out of the time. Later, we trek back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.

  • Day 10: Hike to Kalapatthar and Return to Pheriche:

    We have an early morning wake up today as we have to start the hike to Kalapatthar before the break of dawn to reach there for sunrise. Early morning challenge of uphill hike brings us such a rewarding view that makes our day. Breathtaking panoramic view of the Mt. Everest and other mountains in the range and sunrise over those mighty peaks make this place a wonderland where we can enjoy the magical mountain marvels.

    Later we trek back down to our lodge in Gorakshep to have our breakfast and start trekking to Pheriche (4,371 meters) the destination for the day. After enjoying the Everest base camp and Kalapatthar moments, we are now on our return trip down towards Lukla.

  • Day 11: Descend to the Villege of Khumjung:

    On our return trek from Tengboche Monastery, we will take a different route to Namche Bazaar to take in some important locations and stunning Himalayan viewpoints.

    The village of Khumjung is one of the best places you should not miss during your Everest Base Camp Expedition. Once at this village we will take our time to visit the monastery of Khumjung where The Yeti Skull is kept.  The Yeti is the sacred relic kept which is kept locked under the lock and key in the Monastery of Khumjung. Once we spend the spiritual time in this monastery we will have a quick visit to the Hillary School.

  • Day 12: Hike to Monjo:

    As we leave Khumjung, we will pass through the school to that Sir Edmund Hillary. We head up the hill out of town and towards Namche, where we’ll spend a few hours before we head in Monjo. As we reach the peak of the mountain we are presented with some great views of Namche from above.

    There is a very distinct treeline that you notice as you trek through the mountains. As we descend through the mountains the landscape continues to become greener with trees now becoming more coming and forests forming. Beautiful waterfalls and streams are common as you head back down to the village of Monjo.

  • Day 13: Return to Lukla:

    We trek all the way back to Lukla today to finish the trekking journey. We trek past Monjo and Phakding villages; encounter the Dudh Koshi River along the trail and eventually reach Lukla. As the final day of the trek, we can celebrate the beautiful adventure.

    We see off our trekking potters here today thanking them for all the help they provided to make our trip possible.

  • Day 14: Fly Back to Kathmandu:

    We wake up early for our flight back to Kathmandu. We say goodbye to the serene and magnificent mountains and board the flight to come back to the city civilization. The rest of the afternoon in Kathmandu will be at leisure. Walking around the streets of Kathmandu; souvenir shopping; finding a massage or relaxing at the hotel can be easy ways to spend time.

    We are taking you for the farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of the Everest base camp trek tonight.

  • Day 15: Final Departure Day:

    As the last day on this trip, we drive you to the airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination. If you have extra time then Himalayan Scenery Treks can probably arrange for you another program.
