Ghorepani Ghandruk Trekking with Chitwan Jungle Safari Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:
In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to drop you off in our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure, you will be on your own and you can do whatever you want to do for refreshment. But we definitely will be happy to guide you around the city.
Day 2: Preparation and sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley:
In a bid to know the ancient cultural and historical heritage of the medieval city of Kathmandu we shall today go for sightseeing around the heritages. From the ancient Buddhist stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath, the religious ensembles manifest the ancient values and traditions of Buddhism, to the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath with extensive Hindu precinct are the highlights of this sightseeing. Besides these heritages, the historical Durbar Squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan host ancient and unique tired temples and other monuments, carved architectures with rich decorative carvings also attract the tourists. Today we shall also have a pre-trip meeting where the trekking guide shall instruct you about the trekking to be embarked on and you are expected to use this opportunity to clarify your doubts regarding anything on this trek.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by Tourist Bus:
The adventure to Annapurna region, one of the world’s best trekking destinations, begins today as we shall head on for Pokhara from Kathmandu on a tourist bus. The scenic lake city in the western Nepal, Pokhara, is reached through twisting roads of highway with the scenic landscape, waterfalls and fast flowing rivers and rural settlements. Looked over by the snowcapped Himalayas from far away and by the lush and rolling hills from nearby, our journey takes us past interesting settlements and is welcomed first by the unique Fishtail Mountain as we reach the vicinity of Pokhara. You shall be transferred to the hotel at the favorite tourist hub of Lake Side. After some rest wander around the pristine and gorgeous Fewa Lake and experience the Nepalese flavor of modernity in the surrounding areas that embrace tradition and modernity with equal favor. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Tikedhunga:
We are heading to Pokhara today on an overland journey. The road journey of about 6 hours starts after breakfasts and heads towards the west of Kathmandu valley past Swoyambhunath aka monkey temple. As soon as we get outside Kathmandu valley from the western ridge, we can immediately experience the charm of rural Nepal. The drive also let us experience some of the beautiful view of Himalayan peaks and countryside hills. The highway runs through small towns, river bank and winding curl exposing rural Nepalese wonders to us.
The beautiful lake city of Pokhara welcomes us with its breathing taking scenery. We are going to stay overnight at Lakeside. We will have free time to wander around lakeside on our own once we check in to the hotel.
Day 5: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapool and Trek to Ulleri:
Before the actual trekking start we will take a drive of about 1.5 hours towards Nayapul - where we will start our walking journey. As soon as we reach Nayapul, we will begin the walk for the day and head towards Birethanti. After checking into the Annapurna Conservation Area Project counter at Birethanti, we take left route that goes to Ulleri where we are going to stay tonight. We walk on a dirt road up to Hile for about 4 hours with lunch break on the way. We start the proper trail walking from Hile towards Tikhedhunga which is just about 20 minutes’ walk. We take a nice break at Tikhedhunga before taking a final effort to climb steep steps up to Ulleri. About 2 hours of step climbing will be difficult for the final section of the walk but we are taking it today to cut the walk short and easy for tomorrow.
Day 6: Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani:
We will go at an easy pace today. Ulleri provides the first glimpse of snow-capped mountain peaks for the day. The trail ascends gradually towards Banthanti where we can enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Machhapuchhre. The trail then enters schima and hazelnut forest on a gradual ascent to come out at Nangethanti for lunch break. After lunch, we will move on to our further trekking journey which takes us through beautiful rhododendron forest to Ghorepani village for overnight stay. As soon as we reach upper Ghorepani, spectacular mountain views greet and welcome us to this beautiful settlement.
Day 7: Poon Hill Sunrise view & Trek to Ghandruk via Tadapani:
This day will be the long day of the journey as we need to cover up the more grounds. We get up early and come out of our comfy bed to hike to Poonhill. The hiking to this famous viewpoint takes us about an hour through rhododendron forest on an uphill trail. The top that lies at 3,210 meters above sea level brings panoramic views of the mountain peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range. The charm of Himalayan panorama becomes even more fascinating when the sunrise pours magical colors upon the mighty peaks. This sunrise hike is one of the most awaited highlights of the trip.
After enjoying the enthralling, the sunrise, we begin our trek to the cultural beauty of the ethnic Gurung village. The trail goes up and down the hill beginning with a steep climb followed by a long downhill. Taking a short uphill walk reaches Tadapani from where we can enjoy the close-up view of Annapurna south, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli. From here our trail descends gradually through a forested area which will bring us a beautiful nature walking experience. When we reach Ghandruk village, Himalayan panorama welcomes us again.
Day 8: Trek from Ghandruk to Pokhara:
Today is the final day of our walking journey. We are going to conclude our trekking part when we reach Nayapul completing a loop. The trek descends steeply down to the bank of Modi Khola and goes through beautiful villages, terraced rice and wheat field along the trail. After finishing the downhill feat, the trail becomes easy as it follows a dirt road to Nayapul. Once we reach Nayapul checking out from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project counter at Birethanti, we take a vehicle to drive to Pokhara. We enjoy the time in the city charm of Lakeside after many days in the serene mountains.
Day 9: Pokhara To Chitwan:
We get ready early in the morning for a five-hour drive to Chitwan. After a cultural heritage tour of Pokhara valley, it now turns to explore the wildlife in the jungle of Chitwan. Chitwan National Park lies about 160 kilometers to the south of Kathmandu. The drive to Chitwan is scenically beautiful. We get a chance to see the countryside life in Nepal. Once we exit Kathmandu valley, we go through peaceful surroundings along the highway. The highway runs along a beautiful rafting river called Trishuli for the most of its stretch. With enough breaks along the highway, we eventually reach our hotel in Chitwan where the hotel management gives us a detailed schedule of our jungle safari activities during our stay there. We will later go for the activity that is scheduled for today.
Day 10: Jungle Safari and other adventurous Activities:
We spend a full day here at Chitwan exploring the wildlife. We go for the activities like elephant back safari, canoe ride, jungle walk, bird watching, ethnic village tour, etc. as per the schedule. Our exploration of the day brings us possible encounters with one-horned rhinoceros, deer, crocodiles, wild boar, Bengal tiger, monkeys and several species of birds. The day is going to be full of wildlife adventure inside the forest there. We also go for a wonderful cultural show of the ethnic Tharu people in the evening if we haven’t done it the previous night.
Day 11: Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu
The total distance from Chitwan to Kathmandu is approx. 175 km and the road condition is good. You will drive along the Prithvi Highway and then starting from Naubise you will be driving along the Tribhuvan highway until you get to Kathmandu.
Day 12: Departure for your onward Flight:
The journey full of adventure, excitement, enriching experiences and exploration of natural, historical and cultural heritages has now come to an end today. If you haven’t extended the stay in Nepal, we shall assist you with your onward flight to your destination.
Our representative shall escort you to the Tribhuwan International Airport for your flight.
