Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel:
In accordance with your flight schedule, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to extend a warm welcome to you in our beautiful country for the beautiful trip. After exchanging warm welcome greetings at the arrival section, we will lead you to our vehicle to transfer you to our trip hotel. It’s a day at complete leisure on your own to relax the jetlag. But we definitely help you with the information to go around in case you’d like to do so.
Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:
We spend a full day in Kathmandu today which will be a necessary acclimatization day as well. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will meet for a trip briefing where we will talk about this amazing trip in details and answer your questions if you have any. After the brief meeting is over, we are taking you for an amazing cultural sightseeing tour of heritage sites in Kathmandu valley. The sites we take you for the sightseeing today include Swoyambhunath - the oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Square – to see the temple of Living Goddess and other medieval architectural wonders, Pashupatinath – to immerse into Hindu death rites on the bank of a holy river, and Boudhanath – a massive Buddhist shrine considered as the biggest in the world.
Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding:
We get ready early in the morning for our flight to Lukla. We are going to set our foot on the marvelous Everest region. A short and beautiful flight lands us at Lukla airstrip where incredible mountain views welcome us to the charming mountain region. As soon as we come out of the airport, we get ready to begin the trekking journey. We are trekking to Phakding today on a gentle and easy trail that takes us past chhortens, mani walls, prayer flags, etc. to let us know that the region has a big influence of Buddhism. We reach Phakding on the bank of Dudh Koshi River to stay overnight.
Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar:
We are going to enter Sagarmatha national park on our trek to Namche Bazar today. As we hit the trail from Phakding, we follow the river and cross in many different places over suspension bridges. Once we check at the national park checkpoint at Monjo, we continue walking towards the destination. Although the trail today gives us the pretty tough challenge of traversing uphill trail, we go on a gentle pace to ease the challenge. Bustling Namche Bazar welcomes us for overnight stay.
Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar:
Namche Bazaar is an ideal point to take an additional overnight stay to acclimatize. Thus, we are going to explore around Namche Bazaar and return back here to stay overnight. We enjoy breakfast and set out for the day. We hike up to the Everest View Point. This incredible hike brings to a point that brings the epic Everest to our view for the very first time on the trip. We enjoy captivating views of the mountains and spend time exploring the surroundings before descending back to Namche Bazaar. We wander around this beautiful Sherpa village for the rest of the day and adjust with the climate.
Day 6: Trek from Namche Bazar to Tengboche:
On the third day of the trek to the Everest Base Camp, our destination is Tengboche. The first section of the trek goes uphill and becomes gentler before it descends to a mountain stream. After crossing the stream, it goes steep uphill towards Tengboche. Tengboche is a small and beautiful settlement that has great views of mountain peaks. The Buddhist monastery there, famously known as Tengboche Monastery, is a rich example of Buddhist cultural traditions prevalent in the region. We explore the monastery and surrounding and spend overnight here.
Day 7: Trek from Tengbuche to Pangboche:
We wake up for a lovely morning and relish our breakfast with the view of mountains given that it’s a fine morning. We are trekking to Pangboche today so we embark on the adventure walk of the day. Hiking out of the Tengboche village, we follow the downhill trail amidst the high mountain, reaching Debuche. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola, we will take a steep ascent to reach Pangboche.
Day 8: Hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp and back to Pangboche:
Today is going to be the most exciting days, as you will be stepping in the base camp of Ama Dablam. We will start our morning hike with a steep ascent towards the base camp (4600 m). As we hike further, Ama Dablam begins to appear closer and becomes vividly stunning. You can also see the spectacular views of Lhotse (8516m), Lhotse Shar (8382m), Nuptse (7879m), Lobuche peak (6090) and other peaks forming a magnificent Himalayan panorama. Once we reach the base camp of Ama Dablam, we will observe the breathtaking views of pristine peaks along with the hanging glacier. From the base camp, the view of the Ama Dablam and the hanging glacier is simply mesmerizing and spellbinding. After exploring the base camp and relaxing for a while, we will retrace our path back to Pangboche for the overnight stay.
Day 9: Trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar:
After standing on the foothills of the world’s most beautiful mountain, today we head back to Namche. Leaving the Pangboche village after breakfast, we take a downhill trail through some magnificently carved mani stones to the Imja Khola. Crossing the steel suspension bridge, we climb uphill to Debache and then a short steep climb through a forest of birches, conifers and rhododendron reach Tengboche. Frome here, we trek along the Dudh Koshi river. Passing magnificent rhododendron forest, waterfall; we eventually arrive at Namche Bazaar. Once we arrive at Namche Bazaar- the main trading town, we can take a walk around the town or rest at the hotel room.
Day 10: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla:
We trek all the way back to Lukla today to finish the trekking journey. We trek past Monjo and Phakding villages; encounter the Dudh Koshi River along the trail and eventually reach Lukla. As the final day of the trek, we can celebrate the beautiful adventure.

Day 11: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel:
We wake up early for our flight back to Kathmandu. We say goodbye to the serene and magnificent mountains and board the flight to come back to the city civilization. The rest of the afternoon in Kathmandu will be at leisure. Walking around the streets of Kathmandu; souvenir shopping; finding a massage or relaxing at the hotel can be easy ways to spend time.
We are taking you for the farewell dinner and to celebrate the successful completion of Everest base camp trek tonight.
Day 12: Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure:
On the last day of our trip, representative of Himalayan Scenery Treks will drive you to the airport according to your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
