After a gradual trek through the settlements of Karnasa and Phangkha, we have an uphill section in the trail to the lateral moraines of the Ngazumpa glacier after descending to the riverbank from Phangkha. Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Taweche, Kantega, Thamserku, Makalu, Gyangchung Kang and many more Mountains view from your eye level. The ascent should be in a gradual fashion without much strain on our body. Supposedly the better view of Everest than from the Kala Pathar, the view of panoramic Himalayas is unexplainable. Besides these mountains the view of Ngazumpa glacier is a masterpiece of the view. After capturing the memories in the summit, we trek back to the Gokyo village slowly and gradually. Overnight in Gokyo.

Day 09Gokyo - Thangnak (4690m) Fit and acclimatized, we leave Gokyo to cross the Ngozumpa Glacier. We descend to the second lake along the same trail that led us to the marvelous Gokyo valley. We further descend along the trail to the vicinity of the First Lake and then turn towards the destination past the majestic glacier. The exciting part of crossing over the glacier is that you can hear the sound of glacial movement while you trek. The route across the glacier is marked by cairns and is generally quite well defined. After we cross the glacier, we have the settlement of Dragnak, used by many trekkers as the place of overnight stay. However, we trek little ahead to the settlement of Thangnak, a settlement with few teahouses as the preparation for the crossing of the Cho La Pass. Overnight in Thangnak.

Through the Thokla Pass and along the moraines of Khumbu we pass through Lobuche, the Italian research centre, the memorials of mountaineers and Lobuche Pass before we reach the Gorak Shep. The trail has ups and downs on the rocky terrain before we reach there. To reach our next objective, Kala Pattar, the trail continues to follow the valley beside the Khumbu Glacier and at Gorak Shep. We have a marvelous sunset from the summit of Kala Pattar, arguably more beautiful than the sunrise over the Himalayan massif including the tallest peak, Mount Everest. After having a memorable ascent to the Kala Pattar with stops in between, we trek back to Gorak Shep. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

Day 12Gorak Shep - Trek to Everest Base Camp (5357m) and return to Gorak Shep Another day in the natural amphitheatre of Everest region among the Himalayas is there for us today. This trek to the new moraine route has lots if ups and downs in the rough terrain, incredible ice melt patterns all around the sight of avalanches and rock falls besides the gentle ice towers in the surrounding. After exploring around the snowy landscape and close up view of the Himalayas, we then return to Gorak Shep. The return in the winding trail requires a gradual descent. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

Day 13Gorak Shep - Pangboche (3985m) It’s a downhill most of the way today, past Lobuche to Dughla and Pheriche. Though uphill ascent for same distance needs a longer time, we have a relatively quick descent. The Himalayan Rescue Association has trekkers’ aid post here which is interesting to visit en route the trek. After lunch we cross the Khumbu Khola on a wooden suspension bridge and follow the Imja Khola to the village of Pangboche. The trek explores past the memorials dedicated to mountaineers deceased during their Everest expedition, the high altitude clinic in Pheriche, and flat trails before approaching the settlement of Somare and further ahead the settlement of Pangboche, the Sherpa village with ancient monastery and rich culture. Through the couple of passes, several suspension bridges and landscape decorated by rhododendron forest and greenery, glimpses of wildlife and company of other trekkers we reach to the destination for today, Pangboche. Overnight in Pangboche.
