Day 01Kathmandu to Lukla 2800m and Trek to Phakding 2652mWe start our trip with the flight of about half an hour, early in the morning, to Lukla viewing great mountains during the flight. Lukla is the small town to start the trek where we shall meet our porters. Further along from Lukla we shall start our adventure by gradually descending along the trek and gradually passing through several small settlements, dense and colorful forests with blooming flowers, terraced fields and pristine rivers. We walk along the torrential Dudh Koshi River as we reach to Phakding, a beautiful settlement with green landscape and view of Kusum Kangararu Mountain. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 02Trek to Namche Bazzar 3440m This day is longer than first day. Approximately it will take 5 hrs and the last part is steep up of one good hour and from the uphill you can view the Everest for the first time. The weekend market with the local goods and Tibetan goods as well is the best attractions of Namche. We walk through the pine and deodhar forest, pass the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi River where we cross the Hillary Bridge, one of the highest bridges of the entire trekking expedition. Uphill climb to the Sherpa hub of Namche Bazaar we have view of beautiful mountains such as Lhotse (8511m), Nuptse (7879m), Ama Dablam (6856m) and Tawache (6542m) besides the star attraction of the trek , Everest (8848m). Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 03Trek Namche Bazzar to Tyangboche 3867m The first part is flat and downhill trails to Phunki Thanka along the stone steps. We cross the river and then have a steep climb up to the Tyangboche. Tyangboche is also the final destination in the ‘Sacred sites Trail Project’ of Sagarmatha National Park. This place is also famous for the monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. Tyangboche Monastery is very popular among the Everest climber where they get blessings from by the Head Monk of the Monastery for good luck and good wish. The surroundings of the monastery is equally captivating. Overnight in Tyangboche.
Day 04Rest day in TyangbocheToday is the acclimatization day scheduled in the itinerary. We shall enjoy the monastery and the view of the great mountains with the excellent view of Mount Everest. Tayngboche monastery, that also hosts the famous Mani Rimdu festival, is surrounded by ancient Mani stones, prayer flags and views of the panoramic Himalayas. We can also explore the other satellite villages and monasteries at Pangboche, Thame, Khumjung and others nearby Tyangboche. We have the scenery of Ama Dablam, the glorious Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku and other sibling peaks as the backdrop of the settlement at Tyangboche. During the spring season we have hills surrounding Tyangboche covered with flowering rhododendron, providing colorful scenery. Home to the Sherpa community, Tyangboche is located on a hill at the confluence of Dudh Koshi River and Imja River. Overnight in Tyangboche.
Day 05Trek back to Monju passing Namche BazzarWe shall trail back to the trekking route traced earlier and reach to the settlement of Monju, the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. Along the rugged path, crossing the suspension bridges, hiking up and down the trail, crossing the settlements and interacting with the locals as well as enjoying the views of the snowy mountains and lush hills we reach the destination of Monju past the vibrant Namche Bazzar. Our trek shall be slower as we don’t want to put much strain on the knees and ankles. Stupas and gompas, prayer wheels and prayer flags, Mani walls, train of yaks and donkeys, caravan of porters, guides and fellow trekkers make the trek entertaining. Overnight in Monju.
Day 06Trek Monju to Lukla Today we shall end our physical trekking expedition at the starting point before we fly back to Kathmandu. With the company of snowy mountains, suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags, milky white rivers and waterfalls, lush green vegetation, hamlets and crop fields, we reach to the hill-town of Lukla, the town that served as the only gateway to the Khumbu region before the popularity of Namche Bazzar as the same. We pass through the settlements of Phakding, Nurnig, Chheplung and Thalsaroa before reaching to the destination of our overnight stay. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 07Fly Back to Kathmandu Our trek ends today. We leave for Kathmandu early in the morning. The flight to Kathmandu is equally captivating as it was the first time when we headed to Lukla. Flying in the vicinity of the Himalayas and above the hills we reach to the lively and vibrant Kathmandu. You can explore the streets of Kathmandu and have some souvenir shopping before departing to the respective destination.
