Humla Trek Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu:

    As per your flight plan, we will be at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to stretch out a warm welcome to you in our wonderful nation for the lovely outing. As you fly towards the International Terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport on a clear sunny day, you can see the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks spread in distance. Once you land, a representative from Himalayan Scenery Treks will escort you to your hotel. The day is complete leisure. You can either choose rest at your hotel room and remove jet lag or take a short walk around in the ancient valley of Kathmandu.

  • Day 2: Preparation and Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu:

    On the second day of your arrival, we will be taking you for site seeing tour to some of Nepal’s most historic site after morning breakfast. Talking about the cultural richness, Kathmandu is the cultural heart of Nepal. This city has an interesting combination of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the valley. We will be taking you to the historical and cultural sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. We will take a tour around Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple- Swayambhunath Stupa – oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Pashupatinath Temple – biggest Hindu Shrine and Boudhanath- a massive Buddhist Shrine. All these historical monuments are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site. You will be accompanied by the professional licensed guide during your city tour around the beautiful city of Temples.

  • Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj:

    After morning breakfast in the hotel, we will go to the domestic terminal to take an hour flight to Nepalgunj, located in Western Nepal. After we take off from the Tribhuvan International Airport, we can enjoy the aerial view of the ancient Kathmandu valley accompanied by various never-ending Himalayan-chains. Nepalgunj is the wonderful town located in Western Nepal, near Nepal-India Border. This town is the gateway to Simkot, Humla. The cultural richness of this interesting Terai town is beyond comparable. The town itself is the showcase of the diverse culture of Nepal. Once we reach this wonderful Terai Town, we will explore this amazing town.

  • Day 4: Fly form Nepaljung to Simikot and Trek to Dharapori:

    After we have our breakfast in the local hotel, we will once again take a morning flight to Simikot. Simikot is the administrative Headquarter of Humla district. It is also the main gateway to the Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Once we land on the airport of Simikot, we will join the rest of the trekking staff and then begin our trekking journey. Hiking out of the Simkot, we take an uphill trail to reach the small settlement of Gwalekhor. As the village is in the higher point, you can have the magnificent views of the Simikot along with the mountain range on the other side of the valley. After we finished lunch, we descent for about 500 meters to reach Dharapori. We will camp close to the Dharapori village for the overnight stay.

  • Day 5: Trek from Dharapori to Lek Dinga:

    Today is the longest and the most strenuous part of our trek. In spite of long and difficult uphill climb, the trail is most scenically rewarding. Once we have had our breakfast, we begin our trek with an uphill ascend to the village of Dhinga. From here, we further walk up covering 800 meters of altitude to the ridge before we arrive at the second camping spot. At the ridge, there is a small stupa, which marks the best viewpoint of the mountains. We will take a break here to enjoy the mesmerizing view of the mountains. Today's camping area is a short walk once we have crossed the ridge.

  • Day 6: Trek from Lek Dinga to Yakba:

    The hike of today is the easiest part of our trek. After having breakfast in the camp, we begin our morning walk with a down-hill hike. As the trek is shorter and easy, we will hike slowly, enjoying the beautiful nature and tranquil atmosphere. An hour of descent reaches the small settlement of Lek Hepka. During the summertime locale, people of the region inhabit this place for letting their cattle graze. Hiking further down we arrive at the Yakba valley. This valley consists of several viewpoints from where we can enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains and valleys. A short walk through the valley takes us to the village of Yakba. This village is inhabited by Tibetan Buddhist. Reaching the village, you will find beautifully decorated houses build according to traditional Tibetan architecture, encircled by green fields of wheat and millet.

  • Day 7: Exploring Yakba village and valley:

    Today is the day off to explore the Yakba village and the valley. With about 6 – 7 hundred inhabitants, this magnificent Tibetan village as so much to offer. Once we have our breakfast, we set off to explore the village and the valley. We walk around the village to explore and experience Tibetan culture and lifestyle. We then visit the local Gompa (monastery) lying just above the village. The monastery is inhabited by the Buddhist nuns. After gompa, we can further walk exploring the wilderness of the valley or simply return back to the camp.

  • Day 8: Trek from Yakba to Camp 5:

    Leaving the Yakba after breakfast, we will take a downhill trail for an hour to arrive at the river bank. Crossing the river, we hike uphill towards camp 5. The uphill path is relatively steep and difficult to climb. After 2 hours of struggle through the steep path, we arrive at the ridge of the hill from where you can experience the great views. Beyond this point, the trail gets flatter, wider and easier to walk. We then walk on a gentle pace, enjoying the tranquil environment. We will set up our camp at the halfway between Yakba valley and Simikot. Although we can trek all the way to the Simikot, this camp is set up to reduce the walking distance.

  • Day 9: Trek from Camp 5 to Simikot:

    Today is the final day of our trekking Journey. After spending the night in the camp, we will start our hike to Simikot after breakfast. We will hike back to the viewpoint of Gwalekhor located just above the Simikot. Leaving the camp, we will take a slow ascent, taking enough time to enjoy the great view of the opposite ridge and the tranquil surrounding. 5 hours of continues hike through pine forest, and quint village, we eventually reach Simikot for the overnight stay.

  • Day 10: Fly from Simikot to Nepalgunj and then Fly to Kathmandu:

    Today we will have the one last view of the wonderful region. After an early breakfast, we will board on the earliest flight to Nepalgunj from Simikot. Once we land at Nepalgunj, we will board another flight to Kathmandu. From the Tribhuvan International airport, we will guide you up to your hotel. You will have free time to explore the Kathmandu city or relax before a farewell party.

  • Day 11: Transfer to international airport for your final connecting flight home:

    On the last day of our trip, representative of Himalayan Scenery Treks will drive you to the airport according to your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
